After a decade of intense building, the economic collapse of 2008 has left Spain littered with unfinished, partially completed or abandoned developments: housing complexes left unenclosed; empty museum buildings with no collections; hundreds of miles of roads unused; and airports without a single arrival or departure.
The images in this slideshow (click above) were taken between January and July 2012 during multiple visits to sites in the regions of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha Spain as part of the ongoing research by Chirstopher Marcinkoski and Javier Arpa, co-organizers of the symposium The City That Never Was, on contemporary formats of urbanization.
